Previous editions of the show have attracted the likes of Sting, Amy Schumer and Cara Delevingne, but the producers have exceeded all expectations with two major season 3 hires: Paul Rudd and Meryl Streep.

Rudd has been a big name in US comedy for decades, while he's also built a career in blockbusters since joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Ant-Man – a superhero persona that is gently lampooned in this series.

Meanwhile, Streep needs no introduction as one of Hollywood's most celebrated actors, with early reviews indicating that she's a priceless addition to the Only Murders in the Building cast.

If you're keen to get stuck into the latest mystery, here's everything you need to know about Only Murders in the Building season 3 on Disney Plus in the UK.

Only Murders in the Building season 3 premieres on Disney Plus on Tuesday 8th August 2023 in the UK, with new episodes airing weekly until October.

Craig Erwich, president of Hulu Originals and ABC Entertainment, said: "Only Murders in the Building is the true crown jewel of our slate. Its appeal across generations, the intersection of humour and heart, and truly original approach are a hallmark of and testament to Dan, John, Steve, Marty and Selena's work.

"We are grateful to be able to continue telling the stories of Charles, Oliver and Mabel to viewers that have consistently shown us they crave more of this story."

The core Only Murders in the Building cast members – Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez – will return to front another season of the hit mystery comedy.

Martin and Short have earned a slew of award nominations for their performance as bickering pals Charles-Haden Savage and Oliver Putnam, while Gomez has also been highly praised for her turn as their unlikely friend, Mabel Mora.

The series will also be welcoming two huge new additions this year.

As teased in the season 2 finale, Paul Rudd will appear as theatre actor Ben Glenroy, who ultimately becomes the latest murder victim that our podcasting trio are associated with.

Meanwhile, true Hollywood royalty Meryl Streep also joins the party, playing actor Loretta Durkin, who gets her big break relatively late in life and is determined to make the most of it.

Fans can expect to see more from Michael Cyril Creighton as eccentric neighbour Howard and Da'Vine Joy Randolph as Detective Williams, an unlikely ally of the Only Murders podcast.

Season 3 follows the trio as they attempt to solve a murder that takes place behind the scenes of a Broadway show, which was intended to be Oliver's grand comeback after years spent exiled from the industry.

When star Ben Glenroy is killed on opening night, he has little choice but to team up with Charles and Mabel once again for another complex mystery that risks compromising them all.
